Investment in Canadian and Foreign Programming by Private Conventional Broadcasters

FRIENDS research shows a widening gap between what private broadcasters are investing in Canadian television programing and what they are purchasing from foreign sources.

Figures are in C$millions adjusted to year 2007 dollars using 1914-2008 Statistics Canada Consumer Price Index data (P100000 series, March 2008). Comparable figures prior to the year ending August 31, 1994, are not available.  'Overall Investment' includes programming and production spending across all program categories, including news, information, sports, drama, music/variety, game shows, human interest and other.
