Don Hill Rallies in Edmonton and Calgary on March 14, 2005

March 13, 2005

REINSTATE DON HILL
As Host of Wild Rose Forum on CBC

Join The Friends of Don Hill in the next demonstration:

Edmonton: Rally in front of CBC, 10062 - 102nd Ave.
     Monday, March 14th, 12:30 to 2 pm.

Calgary: Rally in front of CBC: 1724 Westmount Blvd. NW
     Monday, March 14th, 12 to 2 pm

Many Albertans are angered by the removal of Don Hill from his position as
host of Wild Rose Forum on CBC Radio One, which airs from 1:00 to 2:00 pm
during the week across Alberta. Mr. Hill's program was a unique and
important public forum in the province. The Friends of Don Hill believe
that what has happened to Mr. Hill is now an issue and a matter of public
concern.

Mr. Hill is a veteran investigative journalist.  He researched his topics
thoroughly and engaged interesting and knowledgeable guests who discussed
and explored diverse public interest issues. He encouraged people from
throughout Alberta to raise questions, to challenge the status quo and
engage in open dialogue. Not everyone would agree with some of the views
expressed on Wild Rose Forum, but everyone was given the opportunity to
have their say.

The CBC claims that efficiency required many national layoffs. Many are
curious about why Mr. Hill was picked out in Alberta? Why Don Hill? Why
now? Would the CBC have laid off Anna Maria Tremonti? Don Hill played her
role in Alberta.

Don Hill's removal is an affront to free speech, responsible citizenship
and democratic public radio. The Friends of Don Hill want him reinstated to
Wild Rose Forum because he has been the energy and creative force behind
that program.
