Mavor, the man who knew too much by Liam Lacey

Source : Globe & Mail

December 23, 2006
Mavor Moore, the actor, writer, director, broadcaster and former head of the Canada Council, died this week at the age of 87. He will be remembered as a pioneer of Canadian cultural nationalism. Though it probably won't make the obits, Mavor Moore had a pertinent response to the perennial attempts to make Canadian culture more commercial. (Are you listening CBC and Telefilm Canada?)

"There's no excuse," Moore liked to point out, "for losing money on crap."
