Canwest Global Communications Corp. announced on Monday that it would contribute $700,000 to the Canadian Women in Communications' (CWC) mentorship program, which matches high-potential women with senior members of the communication industry.
The funding will pay for the day-to-day costs of the Canwest Mentorship Program over the next seven years.
"There is a real focus at Canwest to empower and advance women in our industry, and we're proud to be making this long-term investment to not only support women in their current roles, but also to help them build a path toward future opportunities," said Barb Williams, executive vice-president of content at Canwest Broadcasting.
For more than a decade, 350 women working in communications have gone through the program, which is designed to equip women for senior-level roles over a one-year period.
