Source : Globe & Mail

April 28, 2005

Tom Hockin will retire in October after 11 years as president of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada, the mutual fund industry trade group announced yesterday. "When I turned 65 two years ago, I told the board I would stay on for two more years if they wished," Mr. Hockin said in a statement. "I am now setting the date for my retirement to allow the board ample time to search for a replacement." Mr. Hockin was a minister in the Conservative federal government of Brian Mulroney, including terms as Minister of State for Finance and Minister of International Trade. He also had an academic career as a professor of business administration and law at the University of Western Ontario, and headmaster at St. Andrew's College in Aurora, Ont.
